Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo

Sheriff Van Otterloo began his law enforcement career in 1974 with the LeMars Police Department.  He was successful in his bid for the office of county sheriff in 1990 and has been serving in that capacity since.  Sheriff Van Otterloo holds an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.  He and his wife, Elaine live in LeMars where Elaine teaches at the LeMars Middle School.  They have three sons and four grandchildren; Micah who is a police officer in Spencer, his wife Laura and their children, Jackson, Cora, Brooks and Mya in Spencer, Iowa; Jordan who is employed at Alcora and his wife Taylor in Omaha, Nebraska; and Caleb who is a middle school PE teacher at LCMS and his wife Jenelle in Le Mars, Iowa.

Elizabeth Carroll

Elizabeth Carroll graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1995 and attended Wayne State College and Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Elizabeth joined the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office in June of 2001 as a Civil Clerk and was promoted to the Sheriff's Assistant in 2003.  Elizabeth and her children, Brody, Levi, and Ayden reside in Maurice.
