Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo

Sheriff Van Otterloo began his law enforcement career in 1974 with the LeMars Police Department.  He was successful in his bid for the office of county sheriff in 1990 and has been serving in that capacity since.  Sheriff Van Otterloo holds an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.  He and his wife, Elaine live in LeMars where Elaine teaches at the LeMars Middle School.  They have three sons and four grandchildren; Micah who is a police officer in Spencer, his wife Laura and their children, Jackson, Cora, Brooks and Mya in Spencer, Iowa; Jordan who is employed at Alcora and his wife Taylor in Omaha, Nebraska; and Caleb who is a middle school PE teacher at LCMS and his wife Jenelle in Le Mars, Iowa.

 


Chief Deputy
C. A. Bartolozzi

Chief Deputy Bartolozzi began his law enforcement career in 1979 with the Remsen Police Department.  In 1980, he accepted a position with the Marcus Police Department and was appointed Chief of Police in 1981, which was held until 1983 when he accepted a position with the Le Mars Police Department.  In the fall of 1987, he was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Plymouth County.  He was appointed Sgt. in 1996 which he held until 2000 when he was appointed Chief Deputy.  Chief Bartolozzi is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and also held the position of Iowa State Sheriff's and Deputies Association President in 2008.  He and his wife Karen reside in Remsen, Iowa where Karen is employed at Farmers Savings Bank.  They have three daughters, Jill and her husband Nick, Ashley and her husband Joe, who live in Remsen, Iowa and Kari and her husband Nick of Le Mars, Iowa.

Elizabeth Singer

Elizabeth Singer graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1995 and attended Wayne State College and Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Elizabeth joined the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office in June of 2001 as a Civil Clerk and was promoted to the Sheriff's Assistant in 2003.  Elizabeth and her children, Brody, Levi, and Ayden reside in Le Mars.
