On January 19, 2011 at 0842, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a one vehicle accident on Hwy 75 near Merrill.  John Temme, age 24, of Wayne, NE was driving a 2003 Ford F250 north bound on Hwy 75.  As Temme crossed the Floyd River Bridge, he lost control due to icing on the bridge.  The vehicle entered the east ditch causing severe damage.  The vehicle is listed as totaled.

As deputies were arriving to this accident, they observed a second accident at the same location.  Tyler Meekma, age 24, of Orange City was driving north on Hwy 75 and lost control due to icing on the Floyd River Bridge.  Meekma’s 2003 Chevy Silverado struck the bridge rail and then entered the east ditch.  Damage to his vehicle was listed at $3,000.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa DOT Enforcement and Maintenance.
