Farm accident

On March 16th, 2016 at 2:48 PM, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a subject with his leg caught in an auger. Deputies, Le Mars Ambulance and Le Mars Fire were dispatched to 14179 Key Ave, NW of Le Mars. Upon arrival, deputies located Steve Westhoff, age 54, near a bin site with a lower leg injury. Mr. Westhoff was no longer caught in the auger. Deputies rendered first aid until Le Mars Fire and Ambulance arrived. Mr. Westhoff was transported by Le Mars Ambulance to a helicopter landing zone and then flown by Mercy Air Care to a Sioux City hospital. His condition at this time is unknown.
