Hit and run accident

On Wednesday morning, 6/8/16, at approximately 8:40 a.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office was called to the intersection of C16 and Pioneer Avenue just east of K64 in rural Plymouth County in reference to a bicyclist that was struck by a semitrailer.  A bicyclist was traveling eastbound on C16 when a semitrailer attempting to pass the bicycle failed to yield to the bike and struck the operator causing injury to the rider.  The semitrailer continued eastbound and failed to stop after the accident.  The rider, Rudy Folkerts, age 53 of Orange City, Iowa, was transported to the Orange City Hospital with minor injuries.  The sheriff's office was assisted by Oyens ambulance.  Any information on a possible driver of the semitrailer should be forwarded to the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.
