Fatality accident names released

Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo has released the names of the drivers involved in the crash east of Le Mars, early yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.  The accident claimed the life of Le Mars resident Therese M Freking, age 89.  She was driving a 2000 Buick westbound on Highway 3 when her vehicle went out of control and entered the eastbound lane.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured and taken to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.  Susan M Sievers of Remsen was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse eastbound on Highway 3.  Sievers was unable to avoid the Freking vehicle and struck the right side of the Buick.

The investigation is continuing by the Plymouth County Sheriff, Iowa State Patrol and the Plymouth County Medical Examiner.

Road and weather conditions were a factor in the accident.
