On August 3rd, 2017 at approximately 1652 hours, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a reckless driver in the area of the 1800 block of Lincoln St SW in Le Mars. A Plymouth County deputy located the vehicle parked and occupied in front of Kunkel Trucking in Le Mars. When the deputy tried to make contact with the driver, the vehicle fled south bound on Lincoln from that location. The vehicle then entered a private driveway, went through the yard and some trees, then through the ditch and back onto Lincoln. The vehicle came to a stop in front of Kunkel Trucking. The driver, Randall Hurlbut age 54, of Merrill was taken into custody at 1704 without further incident. He was originally charged with fail to yield to emergency vehicle and reckless driving. After further testing at the jail, he was also charged with OWI drugged 1st offense. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Le Mars Police, Merrill Police and Iowa State Patrol. Hurlbut was released the following morning after seeing a judge. |
