10-50 PI at Hwy 140/C38

On January 19, 2018 at approximately 6:42 a.m., the Plymouth County Communications Center received a 911 call concerning a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of county road C38 and Highway 140 south of Remsen. Law enforcement along with fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched, as there was reported to be injuries to at least one individual. Two individuals were transported to Floyd Valley Hospital, that being the drivers of each vehicle. One individual was later transported by Mercy Air Care to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. His condition is critical with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle is being treated at Floyd Valley Hospital.

 

Preliminary investigation by the sheriff’s office and Iowa State Patrol indicates that a white 2010 Ford pickup was northbound on Highway 140 when a white 2017 Ford Escape traveling west on C38 failed to yield at the stop sign.

 

Pending notification of family members, the names of the two drivers are not being released at this time. No other persons were involved or injured.

**UPDATE 1/29/18**

 

The names of the individuals involved in the above accident are being released.  The driver of the 2010 Ford Pickup was Alex Perez, date 48 of Kingsley, Iowa.  Perez was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the 2017 Ford Escape was Victor Ross, age 23 of Cherokee, Iowa.  Ross' injuries are considered serious, life threatening.  The accident investigation is still ongoing.
