On 12/13/17, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call concerning the death of John P. Koley of LeMars. Investigators determined that the death was suspicious in nature and the state medical examiner would be performing an autopsy at a later date.
On 02/09/18, the sheriff’s office received notification that the toxicology report was complete and a determination of cause and manner of death was reported.
Cause of death: Acute Drug (methamphetamine) Intoxication
Manner of death: Accidental
The Plymouth County Sheriff and investigators are focusing their attention to finishing a forensic examination on computer and surveillance equipment seized from the residence.
Any and all information gained will be carefully evaluated to determine its relevance to this case.
