Behrens arrested for OWI and child endangerment

On 2-15-2019, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michaelene Kay Behrens, age 61 of Sioux City, IA.  At 7:18 pm, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of an erratic driver in the area of Hwy 3/Hickory Ave west of LeMars.  The vehicle was reportedly being driven at slow speeds and was all over the roadway.  A Plymouth County Deputy observed the erratic driving and stopped the vehicle at Hwy 3 and county road K22.  The vehicle was occupied by the driver, Michaelene Behrens, and a 6 year old child passenger.  Behrens was found to be intoxicated.  Behrens was arrested and jailed at the Plymouth County Jail. The child was released to his parents.

Behrens was charged with Operating while intoxicated 2nd offense (aggravated misdemeanor), Child endangerment (Aggravated misdemeanor), and open container (simple misdemeanor).  Bond was set at $2,000.
