NEWS RELEASE
On 3/29/2019, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office arrested Scott Paul Hoffman, age 43 of Merrill, IA. Hoffman’s arrest is a result of a nearly 6 month investigation into a possible intruder complaint at 28329 C-38 Merrill, IA that was reported by a juvenile female. Hoffman was arrested and jailed at the Plymouth County Jail. Hoffman was charged with the following:
1- INVASION OF PRIVACY (Aggravated misdemeanor)
2- Two (2) counts of OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE OF AN INDICTABLE OFFENSE (Aggravated Misdemeanors)
3- Two (2) counts of FALSE REPORTS (Serious Misdemeanors)
4- Two (2) counts of INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS (Simple misdemeanors)
Bond was set at $7,500. Hoffman posted bond a short time after he was booked into jail. There is an initial appearance hearing set for April 15, 2019.
PREVIOUS NEWS RELEASE
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into an incident that occurred in early October. On 10/7/2018, at 1:25 pm the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and the Merrill Police Department responded to a call for help from a juvenile female about a possible intruder in the residence at 28329 C-38 Merrill, IA. As a result of that incident, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office has executed several search warrants at the residence and a business in Brunsville, IA. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office continues to gather information and examine digital evidence related to the investigation. The investigation remains active at this time.
