Juvenile male cited for no valid driver's license and interference with official acts

On May 7, 2019 at 3:32 a.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office cited a male juvenile, age 14 of Sioux City, Iowa for driving with no valid driver's license and interference with official acts.

On May 7, 2019 at 3:32 a.m., a 911 call came into the Plymouth County Dispatch about a red Dodge Stratus traveling at various rates of speed and all over the road.  A deputy sheriff noticed this vehicle matching the registration plate to be traveling through Merrill, Iowa at a rate of 40 mph in a 35 mph zone.  A traffic stop was done at the intersection of Jasmine and Highway 75.  The driver and passenger of the vehicle switched spots on the shoulder of the road while being pulled over by the deputy.  A 14 year old male was witnessed by the deputy to be driving the vehicle.  The juvenile tried to run away from the deputy while he was being detained.  The juvenile was cited into court and the passenger was cited for allowing an unauthorized individual to drive without a license.  Both individuals were released to a family member.
