Bullbear arrested on numerous charges after pursuit

On 7-4-2019, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office arrested Davis Duran Bullbear, age 25 of Rapid City, SD. At 10:55 am, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch on 280th St., 1 ½ miles east of K22. The registered owner, who lives in Sioux City, was contacted. It was found that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Sioux City Police Department a short time earlier. At 11:36, a neighbor to the west of the vehicle’s location reported seeing a male subject running through his property and out into a field. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Akron Police Department, and the Iowa DNR in setting up a perimeter. Iowa State Patrol sent an airplane and the LeMars Fire Department sent a drone to assist in searching a creek and tree area for the subject who was believed to be involved in the stolen vehicle situation.

At approximately 12:20 pm, a suspect was located hiding in the creek. The suspect fled on foot from a Plymouth County Deputy. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.

The driver, Davis Bullbear, appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Bullbear was arrested and jailed at the Plymouth County Jail. Iowa State Patrol investigated Bullbear for operating while impaired. Charges are pending awaiting results from the DCI Lab. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office charged Bullbear with no valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, possession of stolen property, and interference with official acts. Bond was set at $5,000.
