Utesch / Breitbarth 10-50 (PI)

On 10/20/19 at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office investigated an accident involving a semi-tractor trailer and an SUV towing a grain head.  The accident occurred at the north junction of C16 and K22.  The driver of the SUV, 87 year old James Utesch from Akron, Iowa, was westbound on C16 crossing the intersection of K22.  The driver of the semi, 34 year old Chase Breitbarth from Le Mars, was southbound on county road K22 when the SUV crossed in front of him at the intersection.  The semi-tractor was unable to stop before impacting the SUV.  James Utesch was airlifted to Mercy One Hospital in critical condition but is now considered to be in stable condition.  The driver of the semi-tractor was uninjured.
