On 12-5-2019 at 4:50 pm, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and trailer loaded with fat hogs. The accident occurred west of Nature Ave on county road C-60. The driver, Brad Easton age 32 of Westfield, IA, was eastbound on C-60 and lost control and entered the south ditch. The semi rolled onto its side causing severe damage to the semi-truck and trailer.
The semi-truck was owned by Broken Kettle Trucking from Westfield, IA and the trailer was owned by Semper Fi Farms Trucking from Paullina, IA. The hogs were owned by Sunterra farms. The truck and trailer were considered a total loss valued at $120,000. The hog loss was valued at $10,000.
