On March 7th, 2020 at approximately 11:30 PM, a Plymouth County Deputy on patrol on K22 near C44 spotted a vehicle traveling north bound at 83 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. When the deputy tried to stop this vehicle, the driver failed to yield and continued north at speeds reaching 95-100 MPH. The vehicle finally stopped after 2 miles. The driver was detained for the speeding and failure to yield violations. The driver was tested for operating while intoxicated. The driver, Nicholas Berger, age 28 of North Sioux City SD, failed those tests and was ultimately arrested for the following:
OWI 1st serious misdemeanor
Speeding 21 or more over the limit simple misdemeanor
Failure to Yield to an Emergency vehicle simple misdemeanor
Berger was booked into the Plymouth County Jail where he was held until he posted bond.
