Yanacheak arrested for OWI

 

On 3-21-2020 at 6:18 pm, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on Talbot Road east of Hwy 12 south of Akron. Akron Fire Department responded to the scene. The vehicle was found to be stuck on a low maintenance road and could only be accessed by the Akron Fire Department and Stockton Towing Company. The driver was found to be Thomas Yanacheak, age 64 of Sioux City, IA. The vehicle was a 2013 Mazda Protégé passenger car. Yanacheak was driving the vehicle and became stuck in the mud on the low maintenance road. While trying to free the vehicle, it started on fire. The vehicle was a total loss valued at $5,000. As a result of the investigation, Yanacheak was found to be intoxicated. Yanacheak was arrested and jailed at the Plymouth County jail for OWI 2nd offense (aggravated misdemeanor). Bond was set at $2,000.
