On April 2nd, 2020 at 0947, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office received a call of a single vehicle rollover accident on C38 at Heron Ave. Plymouth County deputies along with Le Mars and Merrill Fire and Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival we located a 2013 white Dodge Avenger on its top in the south ditch. As a result, 2 subjects were transported to Mercy Medical in Sioux City.

What is known at this time is the vehicle had been east bound on C38 near Heron Ave. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle continued thru the ditch and struck a field drive. The vehicle then became airborne, cleared the field drive and came to rest on its top just east of the intersection.

The driver, Corey Jurrens, age 33 of Le Mars, was taken by Merrill Ambulance to Mercy Medical with suspected injuries. His passenger, Heather Ortmann, age 32 also of Le Mars, was taken by Le Mars Ambulance to Mercy Medical with suspected injuries. Neither are believed to be life threatening.

The accident remains under investigation by Plymouth County with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. The vehicle has been listed as a total loss.
