On April 23, 2020 at 0830, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office was advised of a motor vehicle accident with a vehicle fire. The scene was located just south of 100th St on Hwy 75, approximately 7 miles north of Le Mars.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 2008 Chevy Impala on fire in the east ditch. This vehicle also had front end damage. Based on an investigation on the scene, it was determined that both vehicles had been north bound on Hwy 75 and the Impala rear-ended a semi-tractor with grain trailer. The Impala then entered the ditch and the fire started.
Neither driver was injured in the crash. The Impala which was owned and operated by Tonya Robichaud, age 46 of Le Mars, was listed as totaled. The semi and trailer owned by Circle J Trucking and operated by Greg Jansma, age 45 of Sioux Center, was listed with $500 in damage. Robichaud was cited into court for failure to stop in a clear assured distance.
Assisting at the scene were Le Mars Ambulance, Fire/ Rescue and Police and the Sioux County Sheriff's Office.
