Plymouth County Sheriff Canine remembered

The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office is saddened to report that a long time canine partner of Sheriff's Deputy Scott Dorhout, "Sabot" has passed away.  He passed away at the Dorhout home on November 26, 2011 at the age of 9.

"Sabot" was born December 24, 2001 and was received by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office and Deputy Dorhout in February of 2002.  He was certified by the United States Police Canine Association as a detector (drug) dog in June of 2003 and became certified as a patrol dog in 2004.

"Sabot" certified every year as a dual purpose dog until his retirement on April 1, 2010.  He was retired due to health concerns.

During "Sabot's" career, he was involved in apprehending criminals, in the detection of narcotics, searching for lost and missing individuals, searching buildings and residences and doing community service programs for service clubs and schools.

He will be truly missed by the employees of the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office and the Dorhout family.
