On 12/9/11 at 1723 hours, the Plymouth County Communications Center received a transfer call from the Woodbury County Dispatch concerning a shooting that had occurred near Kingsley, Iowa. The caller stated that an individual had been shot and an ambulance and law enforcement were needed at 41598 310th Street, Kingsley.
The Kingsley Ambulance and Plymouth County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the scene and found a 17 year old male with a gun shot wound to his chest. The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City by Life-Net helicopter.
The victim was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center. The Woodbury and Plymouth County Medical Examiners were notified and an autopsy is being done to assist in determining the manner and cause of death.
The manner of death was not self-inflicted and there were others present in the residence at the time of the shooting. The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office and the Medical Examiner's Offices are continuing their investigation into this death.
At this point in the investigation, no charges have been filed or arrests made.
