On 12/9/11, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting incident at a rural Kingsley residence. Kyle Joseph Badgerow was fatally shot with a semi-auto pistol. Kyle was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
On 12/10/11, the Woodbury County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was due to internal injuries caused by a 45 caliber bullet and the manner of death was due to a single gunshot wound to the chest of Kyle.
The Plymouth County Sheriff's Office along with the Plymouth County Attorney's Office are continuing their investigation as to the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The incident took place inside the residence at 41598 310th Street, Kingsley, Iowa. There were three individuals inside the residence besides the victim. Only one shot was fired and only the victim was struck. The incident was reported by family members of the deceased immediately after the shooting. Several calls were made requesting law enforcement and ambulance assistance.
The individual that fired the pistol is a juvenile male who is not in police custody nor has been charged. The pistol was in the residence at the time of the shooting.
