On the night of July 27, 2013 officers from the Le Mars Police Department and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office were working the area of the grandstands at the Plymouth County Fair.
At approximately 6:15 PM officers noticed a fight in the area of the grandstands. With the help of off-duty officers that were also in the area the fight was broken up and the parties were separated.
As a result of the investigation it was determined that Nelson Wynia, age 52 of rural Maurice left the grandstands and confronted Taylor Rensink, age 16 of Le Mars because Rensink was standing and obstructing Wynia’s view. This turned physical with Wynia bumping or pushing Rensink and then Rensink punching Wynia.
As a result a family member of Rensink, Kenedy Klein, age 18 of Le Mars tried to get involved. She was told several times to leave the area but continued to interfere with officers.
The father of Klein, Randall Klein, age 38 of Le Mars then threatened to strike an off-duty officer that was assisting officers at the scene.
As a result all 4 subjects were arrested for disorderly conduct due to fighting and taken to the Plymouth County Jail. The 3 adults were booked into the jail and the juvenile was held pending transportation to a juvenile holding facility.
