On November 22, 2023 at approximately 1445 hrs., the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a single vehicle accident with entrapment near South Ridge Rd and 282nd St. Upon arrival deputies found a 2014 Peterbilt cement truck on the driver’s side with the driver still trapped in the vehicle. Hinton Fire and Rescue, Stockton Towing and Wings Air Rescue all responded to the scene to extricate the driver. The driver, Cesar Gutierrez-Ayon, age 51 of Sioux City was flown to a Sioux City hospital.
Gutierrez-Ayon was travelling west on 282nd St from South Ridge Road to a private residence. Gutierrez-Ayon failed to negotiate a right-hand turn causing the 2014 Peterbilt to roll. The 2014 Peterbilt owned by Ready Mix Concrete Co of Council Bluffs was listed at $100,000 in damage.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Hinton Police Department, Hinton Fire Rescue, Plymouth County Conservation, Wings Air Rescue and Stockton Towing.
