Hobbs 10-50 PD
On July 26, 2021 at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a single vehicle accident in the construction zone on Hwy 3 at Iris Ave. Upon arrival it was determined that a semi had struck the bridge rail and guard rail at this location and the roadway was completely block. It was determined that due to a mechanical failure, the driver of the semi was not able to steer the vehicle. The vehicle pulled to the right causing damage to the guard rail. The driver, Brian Hobbs, age 63 of Kingsley, was not injured. The tractor, a 2016 Volvo owned by MUSKOKA LEASING CO, sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. The trailer, owned by DECKER TRUCK LINE, did not appear to have any major damage. The bridge guard rail owned by the IADOT had approximately $5000 in damage. Due to the mechanical issue of the vehicle, no citations were issued. Responding to the scene were the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Le Mars Fire/Rescue and IA DOT. The roadway was reopened at approximately 130PM
