Klein arrested on multiple charges

On 03/30/2024 the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City, Iowa due to traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rusty Jay Klein, age 42 of Rock Valley, Iowa. Prior to the traffic stop, Klein had thrown illegal narcotics out of the driver’s side window. Klein also showed to have a suspended Iowa driver’s license with eight withdrawals in effect. The registration on Klein’s vehicle had also expired in April of 2023. Klein was then placed under arrest. A search of Klein’s person was conducted and a pipe used to smoke marijuana was seized.

A search of Klein’s vehicle was conducted. Upon completion of the search, a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine was recovered along with another marijuana pipe, a marijuana vape pen, and two open containers of alcohol. Klein was then transported to the Plymouth county jail and booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense marijuana, possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense methamphetamine, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, driving while license suspended failure to file SR-22 insurance, driving without an ignition interlock device, operating a non-registered motor vehicle, open container, two counts of littering, and three counts of interference with official acts. Klein is currently held at the Plymouth County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
