Summers arrested for Felony Eluding 3rd offense/OWI 3rd offense/DWLB/DWLS
In the early hours of the morning on July 10, 2023, a Plymouth County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop in the area of K49 and C38 on a vehicle as the registered owner had a barred driver’s license status and the vehicle was traveling all over the roadway. A pursuit ensued throughout various streets in the town of Le Mars and eventually the vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at Central Avenue and 2nd St SW while traveling at a high rate of speed and struck a Wells semi-truck driver that was traveling northbound on Central Avenue. The vehicle became disabled and the driver, Alex Summers, age 28, of Sioux City, Iowa, broke out the window of his vehicle and fled the vehicle on foot. Summers was apprehended by a K9 and taken into custody by Plymouth County Sheriff’s deputies assisted by the Le Mars Police Department.
Summers was transported to the Plymouth County Jail where he was charged with felony eluding 3rd offense, OWI drug 3rd offense, driving while barred, driving under suspension, speeding 85 mph in a 25 mph zone, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, no vehicle insurance, no SR-22 insurance, fail to obey traffic control devices, and improper use of lanes.
