Williams-Scott and Juvenile arrested for Theft

On 04/02/2024 the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a theft from the Casey’s General Store in Merrill, Iowa. A short time later a Le Mars Police Officer noticed the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on it.  During the traffic stop a search of the vehicle was conducted. Upon completion of the search approximately $620 worth of Iowa lottery scratch off tickets, which were stolen from Casey’s, were located and recovered.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael Williams-Scott age 20 of Holly, Michigan was placed under arrest along with a juvenile passenger. Williams-Scott was then transported to the Plymouth County Jail and evaluated by a drug investigation expert for impaired driving. Upon completion of the evaluation, Williams-Scott was found to be operating his motor vehicle under the influence of a drug other than alcohol. Williams-Scott was then booked into the Plymouth County Jail on charges of theft in the fourth degree, operating while intoxicated, and driving while license suspended. The juvenile passenger was charged with theft in the fourth degree and transported to the Cherokee Youth Emergency Services Center. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Le Mars Police Department.
